The course was purposely designed by senior Biomedical Equipment Technicians and Imaging Engineers with a Biomedical Equipment Technicians’ prior education, training, and experience in mind.

During the 6-week course, students will engage with seasoned imaging technicians as they explore the complexities of medical imaging devices and the various roles and responsibilities associated with maintaining, trouble-shooting, servicing, and repairing complex imaging systems.

Students will explore the history and development of diagnostic imaging in healthcare and establish an understanding of the theory and principles associated with diagnostic imaging.

Lastly, students completing the introductory course will have been introduced to X-Ray theory and principles; the taxonomy of medical imaging devices in healthcare; orientation and familiarization of different systems and their component parts; radiation safety and compliance.
